The region of Tataouine is the custodian of a rich tangible and intangible heritage in need of support and documentation and which is increasingly under threat from climate change. The villages cut into the mountains and the often-associated fortified granaries (Gsour/Qasr) are at risk of collapse.

As part of the At the Edge of the Mountain (Partnership for Heritage) project an initial period of training in recording tangible heritage assets was carried out at several archaeological sites in Tataouine, Tunisia and Nafusa (Libya)..
